Camden x Caravan Beer Degustation Dinner
On Wednesday 13th August, we’re teaming up with our friends at Caravan to create a six-course beer degustation dinner. We’ll be matching a different Camden Town Brewery beer (including some never-tasted-before specials) to each of the courses, all specially designed for the evening by Caravan’s kitchen team. Hosting the dinner and talking you through the beer and food matches will be old pals Jasper Cuppaidge and Miles Kirby, the founders of Camden Town and Caravan respectively.
Caravan are long-time collaborators and friends of Camden (remember the coffee Pale Ale?) so we are suitably super-excited about this. The menu for the dinner isn’t available yet as all the dishes are being specially created for the evening and those clever Caravan guys are still drinking the beers and cookin’ up matches, so if you want a little preview, check out their restaurant menu to whet your appetite.
We can, however, reveal to you the beers we’re taking along – some of which are brand-new and will be tasted first at this dinner. They are as follows:
IHL (6.2% ABV) – It’s an IPA resurrected as lager, with all our favourite qualities of the two styles rolled into one beer; the intense hop hit of a great IPA, with the smooth body and crisp finish of an awesome lager.
Camden Versus Mohawk Black IPL (5.8% ABV) – A black lager with the hop profile of an IPA, and the hoppiest beer ever brewed at Camden Town Brewery, dry-hopped with a whopping 24 kilos of Columbus, Galaxy, Mosaic & Simcoe.
Hells Lager (4.6% ABV) – Sure, this one isn’t new, but we couldn’t not bring it along! It’s our classic lager, easy-drinking, crisp and dry with beautiful bubbles – and (don’t tell anyone) our all-time favourite beer to drink with food.
Gentleman’s Weiss (4.3 %) – This little 1-keg brew is a Belgian style inoculated sour Wit, made by our old brewer Brent Soutar before he moved back to Australia earlier this year.
Gentleman’s Wit (4.3% ABV) – The perfect beer for this time of year. It’s our English take on a Belgian classic. White beer spiked with lemon and fragrant with bergamot, a smooth, full body and a spicy finish.
Mystery beer?!! – We couldn’t give it all up at once so this one’s a secret. It could be anything so stay tuned for the big reveal.
The event will run from 7:30-10pm and tickets are £45 a head including food and beer. Places are limited to 16 people so get in there quick! You can buy tickets from our Eventbrite or right here.
