How young are you?

Or in other words, are you of legal drinking age? We have to ask because it’s the law. Just so you know.

Pacman Nope, I’m not quite there yet.

Remember when we asked beer lovers from across the UK to submit their beer idea and tell us what they’d want to brew with us here at Camden HQ?

We had a great mix of entries from all over the country - some weird, some wonderful, from home brewers and hop heads alike. After shortlisting the entries down (with our very own beer debate club), we made our decision - a Rhubarb IPA.

Our winner Charlie is a London based home brewer, who was inspired by his mum’s homemade rhubarb fool.  So, we set out to help create the recipe and source one hell of a lot of rhubarb. But not just any old stuff - we needed 100kg of Yorkshire’s force grown rhubarb, which is grown in the dark then picked by candle light, sourced from the mystical, magical farms within ‘The Rhubarb Triangle’ - Seriously, look it up.

Charlie became an honorary member of our Beer Team for a full day of brewing and branding to make his beer idea a reality ready to launch at London’s Craft Beer Rising next week.

Charlie’s ‘Foolish’ Rhubarb IPA

It’s bright, cloudy with a punchy aroma of sharp rhubarb. Unfiltered and dry hopped with Victoria Secret hops make for a fresh and tart beer, perfect for the British springtime.

We’ll be tapping the very first keg at 12pm over at Brick Lane’s Old Truman Brewery on Saturday 25th February. Come meet Charlie and try his beer idea, see the design and raise some money for his chosen charity.

Don’t worry if you can’t make it along to the launch, you’ll find Foolish on at our bars Camden’s Daughter and The Horseshoe - with all the profits going to support Charlie’s charity of choice - Médecins Sans Frontiers, an independent humanitarian medical aid organisation who are committed to providing medical aid where it’s most needed, regardless of race, religion, politics or gender and also to raising awareness of the plight of the people we help. The beer will be on the taps from the start of March.
