Hells is the lovechild of our two favourite German beer styles - Helles and Pilsner. Clean, crisp and dry, it’s the beer we always wanted to drink and the reason we started our brewery. We hope you agree.
We don’t need no pasteurisation.
Most lager is pasteurised. Ours isn’t.
We like it better that way.
Why? Look it up and find it out.
(Hint: it’s why our beer tastes so FRESH.)
In German, the word ‘lager’ means ‘to store’ and our Hells Lager spends 4 weeks in the tank. This is the proper length of time for lagering, the right amount of time for our Hells to acquire great depth of flavour and enough time to grow a pretty decent beard.
Not bratwurst or sauerkraut but Bavarian Lager yeast, Perle and Hallertau Tradition hops and our own special house Pilsner malt from Bamberg (we’re one of the only two breweries outside Germany to use it).
But like any proud parents, we can’t help mentioning that Hells has won Gold at the World Beer Awards 2019 and Bronze at the Bartenders Beer Awards 2020 (…you know, just to name a few).
