OKTOBERFEST IS BREWING!
We know it’s still August, but you can’t rush great beer: Oktoberfest is brewing, and we’re ready to pull out our lederhosen. Our brewers Rob and Markus are in the brewery as you read this with their recipe for an Oktoberfest beer well underway – we’ll Prost to that!
Markus is bringing on the full German volksfest experience with this one: expect a 5.3% ABV festbier-style lager thanks to a higher gravity (13.5 OG) and Pilsner, Munich and chocolate malts, giving it a deep copper-amber colour. Magnum and Hallertauer Smaragd hops are there to give it a 25 IBU bitterness along with a bit of spiciness, and we’re fermenting this one slightly warmer than normal, so more fruity/nutty characteristics come through from the yeast.
Markus and Rob’s Oktoberfest will be ready for Oktoberfest season at the end of September, so start marking your calendars and practicing your German drinking songs – this is going to be one HELLS of an Oktoberfest!
