The Mash: 10 May
Jasper is off to Australia next week and will be at a few events before going on to the Great Australasian Beer Spectapular where you can drink our Alsace Alt (an Altbier brewed with French hops). On Saturday 18 May is The Camden Town Brewery High Tea at Archive Beer Boutique in Brisbane, Jasper’s home town. It’s a five-course afternoon of beer and food with five Camden Town beers – the first time our beers have been poured in Australia.
Then on 22 May, Jasper will be at the Brewers and Chewers at The Local Taphouse in Melbourne – it’s kind of speed dating with brewers, beers and food: the brewer joins a table of drinkers, eats and drinks and talks about their beer and then moves on to the next table after 15 minutes. Joining Jasper that night will be Brennan Fielding from Burleigh Brewing, Jos Rugffell from Garage Project, Leo Di Vincenzo from Birra del Borgo, Scott Brandon from Bright Brewery, Ashur Hall from Illawarra Brewing, Tim Thomas from Hop Dog and Eric Ottaway from Brooklyn Brewery. On Friday 17 May it’s our Versus brewday when we mash in to battle with Doug Odell from Odell Brewing and throw together Hells Lager and Cutthroat Porter and turn it into a big Baltic Porter. We’ll have great food here, plus Dogfather Diner are cooking some special hot dogs inspired by the beer - there’ll be the Baltic Cutthroat Dog and the Sauerkraut Royale, plus their classic dogs.
More kick ass beer and food combos are made possible this weekend when Bokit’La (French Caribbean) and Deeney’s (Scottish-inspired sandwiches) cook on Friday night and Capish (American Italian) come on Saturday. The Brewery Bar isn’t opening until 5.30pm on Saturday, but normal hours on Friday.
While we’re on beer and food… our friends at Byron opened a new restaurant this week and it’ll be the first one with draught beer! Grab a burger and one of the five beers on tap (or get a flight of all five!). It’s on Beak Street in Soho.
