Versus is Back…
...And this time, it has a Mohawk. Last month, Mohawk Brewing’s Stefan Gustavsson traveled all the way from Sweden to brew with us. This long awaited brew had been in the pipeline since the beginning of the year, so we were stoked to finally get to make a beer together.
So what to brew with a metal-loving Swede who named his brewery after a punk hairstyle? It’s got to be a big, bad, hoppy black IPL. To prepare for the brew day we headed down to the Black Heart in Camden to drink insanely hoppy IPAs and hear a few bands play.
Once thoroughly in the mood, we were ready to brew the beer, a black lager with the hop profile of an IPA. No kidding, this is the hoppiest beer ever brewed at Camden Town Brewery – literally.
Yep, Camden Versus Mohawk is dry-hopped with a whopping 24 kilos of Columbus, Galaxy, Mosaic & Simcoe, the most we’ve ever packed into a beer, the hop bitterness complimented by the roast character of the darker malts (we used Carafa Special along with Pilsner, Munich and Light Crystal) that make this a Black IPL.
Packed into bottles and kegs, this small batch of beer is shared between London and Stockholm, so catch it while you can. It should be out for London Beer City week, so keep an eye on our Facebook and Twitter to see where you’ll be able to drink it.
