Every year we like to say thanks to our customers for working with us, our pal’s for drinking with us and to celebrate the year we’ve had. In honour, as a brewery we all come together and create a barrel aged beer. It’s our ‘Year Beer’ series, and we’ve been doing this since 2013, and every year is different.

ABV: 10%, Hops: Magnum, Amarillo and a Mandarina Bavarian Hop, Malt: Pilsner, 15% Rye, 15% Wheat, Barrel time: 5 months

What’s Barrel ageing all about?
The character of a barrel aged beer is defined by the barrels chosen to age in, and for beer Beer 2018 we wanted to explore what we could achieve with Bourbon barrels (16 to be precise). So we set out researching what we enjoyed in our favourite bourbon influenced cocktails, as a way of understanding what tastes could work with this spirit.
The result is Beer 2018, a beer inspired by the classic sipping cocktail the ‘Old fashioned’. A simple, uncomplicated combination of sweet bourbon punch, and orange spicy bitter background.

And the bottle?
Each year we collaborate with a different illustrator to come up with the design of our bottles - throughout 2018 we’ve had the pleasure of working with London based artist Alice Bowsher, who’s illustrations you can find on our 500ml bottles in gold screen print.
